Nele Probst
Bagatelle at the interface of painting and sculpture
In Nele Probst’s wooden pieces, the material inspires her. Found objects from my immediate environment, made of wood, plastic, foil, metal as well as furniture and the like are combined and connected (sometimes only with hooks and eyes) and thus gain new meanings. Often specific found objects even inspire a piece of work, and yet they develop a completely new level of meaning in the finished piece. In my wooden creations, the plane and the space, the materiality, the weathering, the traces of use and the original purpose of the found objects all play a part. It is my intention to play with these aspects and to „re-vitalize“ the dead and discarded object.
