Multimedia Installation, Video, Sound, Embroidery, Painting

Nargis artistic practice encompasses conceptual installations, which include sound, mixed media, embroidery, geometrical metal structures, but also painting, drawing and tapestry– all connected by one single desire – to see the nature of things and to uncover the truth behind a phenomena. On this quest she explores subjects that seem unrelated at first sight and discovers links between concepts that bring her closer to their hidden nature. Whether abstract, figurative or ornamental, she starts with visible lines and enters hidden realms. In her large scale, heavily layered abstractions, flowing lines of saturated colors give birth to rough forms. In successive series, going from large scale to small, from combinations to single colors, she explores the emotional connection between the work and the viewer as well as the viewer’s perception influenced by the artwork. Going from object to space, from color to texture, from obvious to invisible her works transmit meanings that have no known coded alphabet. The strength of her work stems from the drive to express emotions and their meaning that cannot be pinned down into words. Nargis’ works succeed where language fails.

NATURE AS MODEL

Jutta Barth examines natural growth and networking processes, both graphically and sculpturally. Her design is conceptually grounded in a reductive and process-oriented exploration of these subjects. She starts by choosing an initial form which she varies throughout the drawing process. Each piece is a product of this slow, meditative process – from manufacturing the recycled paper with embedded vegetable elements to completing the drawing itself. Barth’s objects and installations make reference to nature. They focus on growth and decay, draw inspiration from processes of organic development, and contrast natural forms with artificial materials like grids or letters.

Sculpture made by air and lines

Bettina Lüdicke speaks of sculptures made of air and lines. By binding metallic lines she forms her sculptures. A specially created patination method generates a velvety dulled or bluishly shining black which contrasts with sections of colored varnish. Almost weightlessly Lüdicke’s sculptures express themselves within the tension zone of corpus and space. Whether permeable corpuses or space without walls – they open up to the spectator who recognizes shape and space by alternating his vision from the inside to the outside.

sculptural ceramics as archeology

Doris Dittrich’s work is an investigation of historical and contemporary cultures, focusing on everyday culture and socio-political aspects, art history and language of form. By referencing research in history, archaeology and sociology she creates an ever growing archive of traces of human narration, transubstantiated in various media, focusing on and preferably commingling etching, painting and sculptural ceramics. Navigating the fine line between consciously searching and finding intuitively, her work is critical at its core yet imbued with optimism and philanthropy.
