transience and desovery new living spaces

In Sabine Burmester’s paintings materials play a very important part. Old, well-established, used and waste materials plus materials which are not evident to everyone’s eyes, come together on the canvas and communicate with each other. These independent materials find their full effect by being interwoven and supplementing each other and thus producing a completed picture. The surface structure, colours and characteristics are all placed in the picture with a certain purpose in mind. The next step the artist takes, is to add acrylic colours, to depict topics such as transitoriness, continuation and discovery of new forms of life. Burmester sets the materials in a new context and through their characteristics and qualities, she likes to compare the reaction with our true world and life. The artistis’s work motto is: “constantly leaving room for new things which crop up in front of my eyes”. And so her works are created with current political or economically and socially critical statements.

Bagatelle at the interface of painting and sculpture

In Nele Probst’s wooden pieces, the material inspires her. Found objects from my immediate environment, made of wood, plastic, foil, metal as well as furniture and the like are combined and connected (sometimes only with hooks and eyes) and thus gain new meanings. Often specific found objects even inspire a piece of work, and yet they develop a completely new level of meaning in the finished piece. In my wooden creations, the plane and the space, the materiality, the weathering, the traces of use and the original purpose of the found objects all play a part. It is my intention to play with these aspects and to „re-vitalize“ the dead and discarded object.

NATURE AS MODEL

Jutta Barth examines natural growth and networking processes, both graphically and sculpturally. Her design is conceptually grounded in a reductive and process-oriented exploration of these subjects. She starts by choosing an initial form which she varies throughout the drawing process. Each piece is a product of this slow, meditative process – from manufacturing the recycled paper with embedded vegetable elements to completing the drawing itself. Barth’s objects and installations make reference to nature. They focus on growth and decay, draw inspiration from processes of organic development, and contrast natural forms with artificial materials like grids or letters.

contemporary bulgarian art

Hristo Bozukov is one of the dynamic young authors in contemporary Bulgarian art. His biography includes 10 solo exhibitions as well as a large number of joint expositions and awards. Each one of his paintings is a revelation for connoisseurs. “There must always be a surprise. When we manage to figure it out, we have already moved to a new dimension”, the artist says. Hristo Bozukov defines himself as an experimenter – a key word in his artistic exploits. In his work, paints have become tools for the accomplishment of figures and plots, skillfully modelled within the parameters of the canvas. The artisit’s pictures are infused with content in which, using his unique methods, he hints at the highlight of each painting, at his profile of author and creator. The characteristic features of Hristo Bozukov’s artistic world reflect his own inventive reactions. Hristo Bozukov’s work has been highly appreciated by experts. Assoc. Prof. Dr Vladimir Avramov from the Faculty of Fine Arts at St Cyril and Methodius University of Veliko Tarnovo puts it in a nutshell: “With Hristo, freedom is realised as an exclusive place for intuitive painting”.

StreetArt interpreted anew

Andreas Bauckmann creates a personal and varied mixture of his own from spray paint and acrylic. His time as a restorer followed by the bachelor in museology gave his early graffiti-art a new direction. Today his works range from classic street art, elaborate and complex stencil pieces to acrylic paintings. Through his works he wants to convey and inspire many different thoughts and emotions. To him art has no definite objective, it is simply the means by which to express oneself.
